Briggs, a Fife based company, started supplying services to the marine industry on the Firth of Forth in the 1970’s providing tough, dependable workboats to assist marine based construction works both on the east and west coasts of Scotland.

Briggs quickly earned a reputation for working hard and delivering dependable results in a challenging environment. Soon other opportunities presented themselves and by the early 1980’s, the Briggs Group were providing vessels and manpower for Oil and Gas Terminal Operations and executing modest Civil Engineering works as a subcontractor, as well as running a growing fleet of vessels.

In the late 1980’s the Group Chairman, Robin Briggs, saw an opportunity in providing Environmental Services to the offshore oil industry and by 1987 had purchased an oil spill response vessel and Briggs Environmental Services was founded.

By the late 1990’s the company had become a major player in international oil spill response and was regularly called on to, not only respond to the spills but in situations where major environmental damage could result, lead and co-ordinate other contractors.

Briggs now operates in various countries around the world delivering a full suite of environmental services including consultancy, training, contingency and planning in addition to Tier 1, 2 & 3 spill response services.

By the Millennium Briggs had expanded their services into submarine cable installation and repair.

Today, our company and staff are still guided by the same principles set out by the chairman in the 1970’s, we offer a safe, high quality service, on time and within budget.
