Briggs Marine operated Woolwich Ferry wins RICS Infrastructure Award for Linkspan Project
The Woolwich Ferry Linkspan Project has been awarded the 2016 infrastructure Project Trophy at the RICS Award Ceremony, which took place at The Lancaster Hotel in London last night.
The RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) Awards are held in London on a yearly basis and attract a significant number of entries. This year there was a shortlist of 41 schemes and winners were chosen on the basis of talent, vision and exceptional skills.
Briggs Marine Contractors appointed AMCO Engineering, on behalf of their client TfL, to undertake the £9.6 million project to refurbish and upgrade the four Woolwich Ferry loading bridges, or Linkspans, and their associated hoisting and control systems. The work was completed on time and in budget. The refurbishment project marks a significant milestone in TfL’s ongoing Life Extension Programme for the ferry service and will provide improved reliability and increased capacity.
All category winners will go on to compete against other regional winners at the national RICS Awards Grand Final on 14 October 2016, for the chance to be crowned the overall UK winner in their respective category.
