Terminal Operator (Fawley)


Location: Fawley

An opportunity currently exists to join the Briggs Group, an established company specialising in marine and environmental services. The Terminal Operator is responsible for ensuring terminal operations are run efficiently and safely, including operating maintaining plant and equipment. The successful candidate will also provide assistance to vessels with mooring and unmooring operations.

Principle Responsibilities;

• Starting up and shutting down plant operations
• Assisting with the loading and discharging of cargo operations
• Maintaining plant and equipment on site including fault diagnosis
• Complying with Company and Legislative Safe Working Practices in connection with jetty loading, utility and ancillary systems / equipment and in emergency situations
• Preparing and analysing samples to interpret and communicate lab results
• Ensuring compliance with the daily shipping plan
• Acting as the vessel and marine control office point of contact
• Actively participate in all safety related meetings, drills and training programmes
• Offering cost reduction ideas to terminal management teams
• Participating in pollution response where necessary

Your Technical skillset will reflect the following;

Essential;

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
• Experience in the following areas;
o Working in a similar role
o Plant operation and maintenance

Desirable;

• City & Guilds / BTEC or equivalent – Mechanical / Electrical
• RYA Powerboat Level 2 (Rigid Inflatable Boat) or equivalent
• First Aid certificate
• CCNSG Safety Passport certificate or equivalent
• Rigging / Slinging and light maintenance skills
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel or equivalent

A shift rotation is in operation for this role, therefore candidates must live within a 35mile radius.
