Bruichladdich Pier

Briggs Marine Contractors were appointed to construct a new berthing face and mooring points to facilitate the use of the pier for larger, double skinned vessels. The new 90m long structure consisted of steelwork dolphins and access bridges, and was located perpendicular to the existing jetty head, remaining independent from the original pier.

HMNB Clyde Restraint Piles

The new £150m Valiant Floating Jetty was delivered from its construction base at Greenock to the Faslane Submarine Base in May 2009, with the towing and temporary securing being supervised by Briggs Marine Contractors. The jetty is 200m x 38m x 12.5m and displaces 44,000te.

Briggs Marine Contractors were appointed to design and construct an open piled quay comprising of an insitu concrete deck on tubular steel piles, with a gross area of 1720m.

HMNB Clyde SSN Berthing Facilities

Briggs Marine Contractors was commissioned to construct an open piled viaduct comprising of 6 x 28m spans of precast concrete beams with insitu concrete deck and parapet. A reinforced concrete bankseat at shoreward end was supported on Universal Bearing Piles and terminates on an insitu concrete dolphin supported on 4 x 2000mm diameter piles at the seaward end.

New Upper Forth Crossing Access Jetties

Briggs Marine Contractors constructed two steelwork jetties to facilitate marine operations at a new road bridge crossing on the Rover Forth. The jetties were located on either side of the river and measured 32m and 170m long.

Staithes Harbour Coastal Protection Works

Briggs Marine Contractors was commissioned to reconstruct the roundhead at the existing breakwater which was necessary as the rock armour blocks at the roundhead had slipped. The existing blocks were removed to allow new larger blocks to be installed at the tow and the roundhead was then reinstated.
