Briggs Marine Contractors was commissioned to reconstruct the roundhead at the existing breakwater which was necessary as the rock armour blocks at the roundhead had slipped. The existing blocks were removed to allow new larger blocks to be installed at the tow and the roundhead was then reinstated.
Rock revetment slope was formed on the shore of the harbour to provide scour protection to the nearby cliffs and a concrete pedestrian footpath was then formed on the revetment.
Dredging of the channel at the entrance to the harbour was also carried out and we installed rock anchors to the armour blocks insitu along the crown of the breakwater
Physical restrictions meant that mobilisation access and rock delivery had to be from the water where access had to be maintained for fishing vessels and RNLI. Works were also carried out on a tidal basis.
