Mechanical Fitter - Burntisland



An opportunity currently exists to join the Briggs Group, an established company specialising in marine and environmental services.

The Mechanical Fitter will report into the Technical Superintendent and work within the Marine Assets team providing mechanical maintenance on vessels and other plant and equipment.

Principle Responsibilities;

  • Maintaining and repairing all plant and machinery onboard vessels and in yard areas
  • Trouble shooting - fault diagnosis and rectification of all equipment
  • Working under the client control of Permit to Work system
  • Carrying out work as per the Planned Maintenance System – tools and all plant and machinery
  • Prioritising workloads to ensure maximum productivity
  • Organising spares and replacements for plant and equipment – working with suppliers
  • Carrying out the supervision of all semi-skilled workers including apprentices

Technical Integrity;

  • Fully qualified Mechanical certification or equivalent
  • Forklift Driving Licence
  • National Safety Passport or equivalent.
  • Full clean UK Manual Driving licence or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with the following areas;
    • Experience in the Marine and port operations field.
    • Cranes
    • Permit to Work / Control of Work Systems / Confined Space Entry / Working at Height
    • Client sites
    • Planned Maintenance System
    • Marine Diesel Engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, Doosan)

A flexible approach is required in this busy environment as the requirement to work out of hours
