Terminal Operator

The Role

The Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of cargo and utility hoses from workboats and will provide assistance during mooring and un-mooring operations. The successful candidate will carry out routine maintenance of the jetty facilities, workboat and equipment.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the loading and discharging of cargo operations
  • Mooring tankers at the loading jetty and assist the jetty crew as necessary
  • Maintaining high standards of workboat housekeeping and general maintenance, including all painting
  • Embarking and disembarking passengers where required
  • Working under the terminal Permit to Work System principles
  • Assisting the Coxswain with the navigation and general running of the workboat
  • Attending and participate in all safety-related meetings, drills and training programmes and execute in working practice
  • Participating in Tier 1 pollution response exercises

Essential skillset

  • Competent operator in site plant and equipment
  • Knowledge and experience in site safety regulations and the hazardous characteristics of the substances handled
  • Full UK Driving licence or equivalent

Training will be provided to the successful candidate.

This role operates on a shift rotation and is based at Garelochhead, Dunbartonshire. Participation in an out of hours emergency contact service is also a requirement.
