Terminal Operator

The Role

The Terminal Operator is responsible for the safe receipt, storage and delivery of bulk liquids of a flammable or hazardous nature, as well as the general upkeep and security of the site.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Monitoring tank levels, particularly when filling
  • Responding to Safety Critical System Alarms and taking appropriate action to prevent an incident
  • Carrying out routine inspection of tank bunds and draining surface water in bunds when necessary
  • Dipping storage tanks and draining water from tanks in accordance with work procedures
  • Sampling and testing of tank water bottoms for microbiological growth
  • Operating all terminal drainage systems, Interceptors and outfalls and adhering to procedures regarding the release of water from such systems
  • Checking laboratory testing equipment to ensure that it is calibrated and in good working order
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the laboratory and sample storage area
  • Operating road vehicle loading equipment and assisting with the loading of road tankers as required
  • Checking and cleaning line filters and pump filters
  • Operating all fuel additive and marker systems, as directed by the Contract Manager, and overseeing fuel additive receipts
  • Reporting any defects in material/plant
  • Carrying out terminal housekeeping duties

This is a full-time permanent position in a busy challenging environment. You must be self-motivated with a desire to succeed and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
