The Role
The role is to assist the Workshop Manager and Technical Manager to provide effective maintenance of all vessels, shore-based assets and fuelling systems within the Peel Ports Group division, enabling their safe operation.
Principal Responsibilities
- Maintain workshop & it’s equipment under the direction of the Workshop Manager
- Support the Maintenance Team for planned maintenance on all designated vessels – minor fabrication, welding and carpentry may be required
- Assist the Workshop Manager with stock control
- Assist the Workshop Manager with vehicle fleet checks and pick up/drop offs for services and MOT’s
- Act as Crane Supervisor or Slinger/Banksman during lift operations – full training to be given as appropriate
- Perform any additional duties as reasonably requested to support the Maintenance Team and on-site operations depending on skills, experience, and capabilities.
The Candidate
The successful candidate must have undertaken a recognised technical apprenticeship or spent time within a busy fabrication/manufacturing workshop environment. They will be familiar with company HSEQ processes, safety management systems and ISO accreditation audits. An understanding of operations in a marine setting would be beneficial.
- Planned maintenance system experience
- Awareness of risk assessment and permit-to-work processes
- HNC or equivalent Workshop Technology/Fabrication Welding
- Full UK Driving Licence is essential
