The scheme recognises and advises businesses that operate a fleet of vehicles, from HGVs to vans, to improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

It provides recognition for best operational practices, and guidance for making improvements. The ultimate aim is to reduce fuel consumption which leads to fewer vehicle emissions and has the added benefit of saving money.

Industry experts rate vehicles and overall fleet management performance, both operational and environmental, and award members an ECO Stars rating between one and five.

Martin Anderson, General Manager of Support Services at Briggs Marine said; “We are delighted to be awarded a five star top rating for environmental fleet performance and management. We initially expected to score slightly lower and work up to the top rating but to be given five stars, only weeks after joining the scheme, is a huge achievement. This recognises the benefits to the environment through improved air quality and of the continued investment in maintaining a modern fleet with modern working practices.”
