Collieson Briggs awarded MBE for local community support

Briggs Marine Managing Director, Collieson Briggs, has received an MBE for services to vulnerable people during the Covid-19 response.

The Company has a long-standing relationship with the communities of Burntisland, Kirkcaldy and surrounding areas and show ongoing support to causes such as the Cottage Family, Kirkcaldy Foodbank, CHAS Rachel House, and Burntisland Primary School.

Every year, the Company donate over £60,000 to various charitable and frontline organisations and sponsor several local sports teams and athletes including Burntisland Shipyard AFC and boxer Sam Hickey.

Collieson was one of ten Fifers included in the 2020 birthday honours which was announced last week, and he was delighted and surprised by the announcement. He said, “A lot of people in the company are involved in, and do so much to help organisations such as the Cottage, so I am delighted to accept on behalf of them.”

Community support is an important factor to the Briggs Family and the Company Board of Directors, it is ingrained in the Company Culture & Values.
