Briggs Marine recently supported this year’s Careers Fair at Beath High School, working with DYW Co-ordinator Lorraine Thomson to give pupils valuable insight into future education and career pathways.

Representing Briggs Marine at the event were members of the HR and Subsea Cables teams, who spoke to pupils about life at Briggs and the wide variety of careers that help support the UK’s marine and maritime sectors. From engineering and operations to business support roles, the conversations highlighted that there are multiple routes into the industry and that opportunities exist for people with a broad range of interests and skills.

What stood out most, however, was the young people themselves.

Throughout the evening, pupils approached the stand with confidence, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine curiosity about the world of work. Many were already considering future career options, while others were keen to learn more about industries they had not previously encountered.

Reflecting on the event, Nancy Norris, HR Business Partner at Briggs Marine, said:

“We met some truly wonderful young people who really inspired us. The students were confident, engaged and eager to learn more about the opportunities available to them. It was fantastic to see young people taking the initiative to approach employers, ask questions and discuss their future ambitions.”

Briggs Marine was proud to be involved and looks forward to supporting future initiatives that help pupils learn more about the wide range of opportunities available to them.
