This year, Briggs Environmental Services is celebrating 30 years of operations in Azerbaijan, supporting the country’s energy sector through the dedication of its people, strong client partnerships and commitment to environmental protection.
Since establishing its presence in Azerbaijan in the mid-1990s, Briggs Environmental has grown alongside the industry it serves. From a small office in the early days to the construction of its dedicated Baku base in 1997, the business has become a trusted provider of oil spill response and emergency preparedness services, supporting clients including BP and SOCAR across offshore and onshore operations.
Today, Briggs Environmental Azerbaijan team manages specialist oil spill response equipment, delivers training programmes, supports contingency planning and exercises, and provides round-the-clock response capability for clients across the country.
The Azerbaijan operation has also extended beyond oil spill response. Over a five-year period, Briggs Environmental managed the fire and rescue team at the Sangachal Terminal on the Caspian Sea, demonstrating the breadth of expertise and support the company has provided throughout its time in the country.
Celebrating the People Behind the Success
While much has changed over three decades, one thing has remained constant: the people.
Among those celebrating the milestone are Elkhan Mamedov, Karim Zeynalli and Alexey Grinchuk, who have all been part of the Briggs Environmental story in Azerbaijan from the very beginning. Having witnessed the development of the operation from its earliest days, they remain an important part of the team today.

Part of the Local Community
Those relationships extend beyond the workplace, with Briggs Environmental supporting a number of community initiatives over the years. Team members have participated in educational activities with local school pupils, supported grassroots sport through sponsorship of local football teams and contributed to initiatives that strengthen connections within the communities where they live and work.
These activities reflect Briggs Environmental Services’ belief that being part of a community means contributing to it, helping to build lasting relationships beyond its day-to-day operations.
The milestone has also been recognised by long-standing client BP.
