Briggs Marine recently teamed up with Raith Rovers FC to organise a community beach clean at Pathhead Sands, giving local young people the chance to help protect their local coastline.
Joined by 12 young volunteers from the Raith Rovers Community Foundation, the group spent the morning collecting litter and learning more about the importance of keeping our coastline clean for both people and wildlife.
The Real Stars of the Day
Thankfully, there wasn’t a huge amount of rubbish to be found – a positive reflection of how well the local community already looks after the beach. However, every item collected was one less piece of litter that could find its way into the sea, harm wildlife or break down into microplastics.

The real success of the day was seeing so many young people enthusiastically giving up their time to help care for their local beach. Their energy, teamwork and willingness to get involved made a real impression and demonstrated how even small actions can make a positive difference.
Learning About Our Local Coastline
We’re also incredibly grateful to Meg Moore from the Fife Coast & Countryside Trust, who volunteered her time to support the event. Meg shared her knowledge about the impact of litter on coastal environments and marine wildlife and provided gloves, hi-vis vests and litter grabbers to ensure everyone could take part safely.

The event provided an opportunity for the young volunteers to learn more about the coastline on their doorstep and why keeping it clean matters – not only for the environment, but for everyone who enjoys spending time on Fife’s beaches.
Football, Sunshine and Friendly Competition
After the clean-up was complete, the day finished with a football-volleyball challenge on the sand involving Raith Rovers players Scott Brown, Charlie Telfer, Ross Millen, George Oakley and Kai Montagu.

With temperatures soaring and plenty of sun cream required, the glorious summer weather helped create a fantastic atmosphere as players and young volunteers enjoyed some friendly competition.
It was a fitting way to round off a day that brought together community, teamwork and a shared appreciation for the local environment.
Working Together for Our Community
At Briggs Marine, we believe that being part of a community means playing a role in looking after it. Whether that’s supporting local initiatives, creating opportunities for young people or helping to protect the environment, meaningful change often starts with simple actions.
This event demonstrated exactly that.
Thank You to Everyone Involved
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the young people who gave up their time to take part, to the Fife Coast & Countryside Trust and to everyone at Raith Rovers FC and the Raith Rovers Community Foundation who helped bring the day together.
Most importantly, thank you to the young volunteers who proved that looking after our environment doesn’t have to be complicated—it just starts with showing up, getting involved and making a difference, one piece of litter at a time.
